More and more motorcyclists no longer use a separate navigation device for their motorcycle trips, preferring instead to be navigated by their smartphone. The BMW Connected Ride Cradle serves as a holder and adapter for smartphones, is operated via the multi-controller and fits all BMW motorcycles with navigation system preparation (Navigator VI) with or without TFT instrument cluster. The navigation map and vehicle data can be called up in the field of vision via the BMW Motorrad Connected app. The Connected Ride Cradle is lockable at the motorcycle bracket (if the bracket is suitable for this), can be used for different smartphone sizes and charges the smartphone battery inductively or with a cable (USB-C).
In principle, all smartphones with the minimum dimensions of 130.1 x 65.5 x 6.9 mm and maximum dimensions of 162.5 x 78.1 x 8.8 mm are compatible.
The current BMW Motorrad Connected app is required to be able to use the cradle.
Requirements for the smartphones: Apple from iPhone 6s with iOS 13 or higher, Android version 8.0 or higher
In order to attach the BMW Motorrad Connected Ride Cradle to the motorcycle, a separately available navigation preparation is required. The bracket is not compatible with the Navigator's 4-button mount cradle.
The vehicle must be equipped with a Multicontroller and the navigation preparation, which can be ordered as special equipment.
A Bluetooth Low Energy connection is required to enable the app to be controlled by the multi-controller on the vehicle's handlebars. The pairing is carried out in the Connectivity Hub within the BMW Motorrad Connected app and is only required for the initial setup. The next time you drive, the devices connect automatically when you switch them on.
Depending on the version, the case may have to be removed so that the smartphone sits securely in the BMW Motorrad Connected Ride Cradle.
Smartphones must have at least Bluetooth Low Energy version 4.2 in order to meet the security requirements (LE Secure Connections) for the connection. Smartphones with older Bluetooth versions are therefore not supported.
