The new BMW M1000RR
2020-09-28 - high performance with passion The new BMW M1000RR, the first M series motorcycle from BMW Motorrad does not only impress with more power and less weight, but also has a lot to offer in terms of technic and aerodynamics. The M1000RR, developed for motorsports, is full of racing technology - whether on the racetrack or on the road, everyone gets their money's worth here.
The four-cylinder engine, which was taken over from the S1000RR, was finely refined for the M1000RR and received a performance increase of 4kW/5HP. This gives the engine a whopping power of 156kW/212PS at 14,500 rpm. However, the BMW M1000RR not only has more power - thanks to new and lighter 2-ring forged pistons, narrower and 6% lighter cam followers, a 3.657g lighter exhaust system with manifold, front and rear silencer made of titanium, as well as a lighter and more compact base engine, the weight of this superbike was able to be reduced to 192kg (ready to drive).
The M Winglets that provide downforce are essentially for the racetrack, which ensures stability in curves, but also allows later braking in combination with the powerful M brakes. Launch Control for the perfect start, Pit Lane Limiter to not exceed the speed limits in the pit lane, the latest generation of dynamic traction control DTC as well as DTC Wheelie function, but also the Gear Shift Assistant Pro to be able to shift without using the clutch, are even more features of the new BMW M1000RR. The M GPS Datalogger and the M GPS Laptrigger can also be activated when purchasing the M Competition Package. Technically, the BMW M1000RR has everything it takes to get the fastest lap times on track.
This BMW highlight is also a real eye-catcher for casual road use. An USB charging socket in the rear, cruise control, heated grips and of course high-performance LED light units make the M1000RR suitable for everyday use. Starts on hills are made as easy as possible for the rider thanks to the Hill Start Control Pro. Furthermore, there is the M Competition Package, which unlocks additional software options such as M GPS Laptrigger and M GPS Datalogger, but also includes other goodies such as the M Carbon Package, the M Milled Parts Package, the pillion package, a lighter swing arm and a DLC-coated M Endurance chain. If that is still not enough, there are plenty of special accessories and special equipment available ex-work.
